Cobalt K1AU is a pale yellow metal with a pinkish or bluish tint. Outwardly it resembles iron, but has a deeper dark color. It is made according to GOST 123 - 2008. On ingots of cobalt grade K1AU, recesses, shells, tuberosity and tint colors are allowed. The surface is free from foreign inclusions. Ingots may have sampling holes.
Application of cobalt:
- in the production of tungsten high - speed tool steels, which have great strength and provide high machining speeds;
- to create electrolytic coatings. Uniform cobalt coating is carried out several orders of magnitude faster than nickel, provides better protective properties and hardness with a lighter and thinner layer;
- in the manufacture of parts for transformers, electric motors;
- for the manufacture of permanent magnets.
